Mr. Peterson,.. the same man who on Fox national cable astoundingly states that he thanks (his) god for slavery and allowing his family and other african-americans to be enslaved so that they can enjoy the [pleasures] of life in modern american... - simply pathetic and embarrassing, Why is this man called "Rev" ? Did he, in fact, ever complete an accredited grammar school in this country ?
-
Did you think that maybe there is more to Reverend Wright than media sound bites? Or that there maybe some truth to some of the things he says? You may not agree with Jeremiah Wright as a whole but there is much truth to some of the historical references he makes as painful as they may be, the truth is the truth...

yeah all the cocain they want just like his good buddy Obama
-
funny he talks agaist hate in this swmon but preaches hate in all the other sermons listening to him speak makes me physically sick

When historians look back at what inspired Obama to summon the hope for both his candidacy and for our nation, they will turn to this sermon by Rev. Wright. While Rev. Wright has his own blind spots, he also displayed deep spiritual insights.
-
This analogy is pretty lame just as Rev. Wright is because Barack Obama is very rich and most of the people voting for B.O. are the gluttons of the world (Hollywood and Oprah) and they are "rich gluttons". B.O. (just like his mentor Rev. Wright WRONG) speak out of both sides of their mouths. I am a civil servant and I work for only one being - GOD.
-
This isn't the sermon... Too bad you didn't buy the CD when it was available!!
-
The sermon on this was quoted in Obama's autobiography, was very different. LMAO!! Nice try....

We need an informed electorate this year, as there are too many serious issues at stake. Slander, guilt by association, smears, and demonizing people are all propaganda tools. People should take time to read Obama's book, Audacity of Hope, to get a better picture of his character and what he stands for.
-
Rev. Wright did change over the years and his "performance" at the National Press Club on Monday, 4/28/08 was a polar opposite from this Audacity of Hope sermon. At the press club he didn't talk about hope at all. We need to look at people as having both great strengths and great weaknesses rather than the simple one or the other labels the media tags people with. Obama was right to say that Rev. Wright is not acting like the person he met 20 years ago.

First of all, I don't know why everyone keeps saying Lincoln freed the slaves. HE WAS TRYING TO GET CONTROL OVER THE UNION AND THEN SAID THE STATES THAT REFUSED TO JOIN THE NORTH WOULD HAVE THEIR SLAVES RELEASED.He did not free the slaves because he though slavery was wrong because at the same time, he himself had slaves in the North and did not set them free at the time

If people took time to look beyond a few select out of context clips played over an over, they would listen to sermons like this. This sermon inspired the title of Obama second book. Martin Marty, a very well respected white theologian, knew Rev. Wright and visited his church. He says that this is what you generally hear from Rev. Wright: hope, hope, hope. And more than this, how does all this focus on Rev. Wright help solve problems of the economy, Iraq, or global warming?

Biochrome, The Black family survived the darkest days of slavery with integrity and dignity, they have not been able to survive the ravages of the welfare state. Fatherhood has been replaced by Government programs. The answer is education opportunity and Justice regardless of Race. It should be against the law to ask a person about Race. The Democrats believe that blacks are inferior and must be taken care of . One of their solutions is to kill them before they are born.
-
Blochrome, I heard Reagans speech for Goldwater in 1964. It was my first year to vote. although my people had always been democrats because they were for the poor and downtrodden i realized that their policies were designed to make people that way. We Republicans stand for individual freedom regardless of race. The road to freedom and prosperity is through free enterprise and personal responsibility. This is no different than Lincoln. Tell me which Republican principles are racist.
-
biochrome33 , the facts are ; 700,000 white Americans died in the war to free the slaves. John Brown was hung for his efforts to start a slave uprising. The Slavery debate was mostly among white Americans. I know about Nat turner and Harriet Tubman's underground Railroad. It was a great thing but not enough with out help from white people. What is the "reality" The movement was started by the Quakers and the Republican Party

RetlawST, Can you recommend a good book on the subject. You sure are smart for your age. Is this something that you learned from your liberal college professors? One plan to rebuild the inner cities proposed by Jack Kemp was tax free "enterprise zones" The leftist democrats in congress would never let it come up for a vote. If those in the ghetto were to become self sufficient they couldn't use government handouts to buy votes. The poverty Pimps would be out of a job.

Thanks for putting this up on youtube. I also put a little bit better quality version up here watch?v=L65nTKHq0v4

I never called you stupid, I said you didn't understand a key aspect of this conversation. Social-economics refers to the study of social capital: family, community, education, etc. When you destroy an entire community, it becomes very difficult to rebuild this community. As far as this issue is concerned, it's not my job to educate you on this matter. YOU should go read some information on the subject, and then I'll discuss it more with you. :p
-
RetlawST, What is your point of View? Tell me about Social-Economics. Is that how you make your point ? By calling the other person stupid. Black people were less than human by those who exploited them , this includes all who profited from slavery; Black Africans, Slave traders, plantation owners, cotton mill owners. Some poor white people were looked down on by the slaves. 700,000 of them died in the war to free the slaves. Blacks never stood up for themselves until Rosa Parks.
-
Really? I could of sworn that there was this period of time where people with black skin were considered property (aka not human). I agree that financial restitution is a cop-out and helps nobody. But the sooner you learn social-economics, the sooner you will be able to understand where other people are coming from. You may not agree with them, but your inability to see any point other than your own makes these discussions pointless.
