Calvinism Sermon: God's Sovereignty (Part 1)
El contenido de la fe, para escuchar,
What are the Five Points of Calvinism? Do the Doctrines of Grace have anything, ultimately, to do with a man named John Calvin? Or, are they truly biblical and find their foundation in the Scriptures themselves? In this message, Pastor Jeff Durbin (Apologia Church/Radio/TV) teaches for our series on the Doctrines of Grace. This message was on the foundations of the acrostic, TULIP: the sovereignty of God. How sovereign is God? Is He mostly sovereign or completely sovereign? How important is this particular issue? Does it really matter? Are the Scriptures unclear? We would encourage you to get out your bible, a notebook, and a pen. Watch this message and test your traditions by the Scriptures. The Scriptures are the sole infallible rule of faith, therefore, our beliefs must be consistent with the Word of God and we must be willing to abandon any belief that contradicts God's Word no matter how long we've held them or how cherished it has become. those that are in the flesh cannot please GOD.

I am an "Arminian" who is slowly understanding Reformed theology. I think that Jeff is a remarkable preacher. Great sermon.

"If we lose these truths, we lose the Biblical gospel" (12:08).
Last time I checked, the gospel according to Matthew was still a part of the canon, and he almost always equates the gospel with the coming Kingdom of God. You don't have to be a five-point Calvinist to believe in the Biblical gospel of the Kingdom of God. -
Our Will , will never trump God's will

As Dr Sproul suggested it in his series on the Doctrines of Grace, I prefer to use these names for TULIP: radical corruption, sovereign election, definite atonement, effectual grace & preservation of the saints.
Anyway, thanks pastor Jeff for this helpful series. God bless you! -

What an amazing message! Johnny Cage just killed it😊👊🏼

Jeff is a great apologist but sadly uses horrible examples to spread a cultists doctrine. every believer is a monotheist. every believer is a trinitarian. see that means your a calvinist too. what in the world??? mono actually defines as one. trinitarian defines as three. calvinist is a last name of a man with ism at the end.... Christ is not a calvinist. He is Christ, period.

Dr. Leighton Flowers has possibly the best and most politeful response to Jeff's video. Search for it on YT.
For those that do not know Leighton Flowers, he is the Director of Youth Evangelism and the Director of Apologetics for Texas Baptists, as well as a former Calvinist who was mentored by the same man as Matt Chandler. Dr. Flowers will respectfully show you the inconsistencies regarding Jeff's soteriological teachings found in this video.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Here is a small sample of Jeff's inconsistencies found early in the video: Jeff warns that losing the Calvinistic view of the Doctrines of Grace (DoG)/TULIP is akin to losing the Gospel (~12 min)...But when you consider Jeff's statement from a Calvinistic perspective, God would have to determine for the teachings of the DoG/TULIP to be lost in the first place. Why then worry and warn if it is God's will from the start? Further, the logical conclusion would be that your non-Calvinist Christian buddies do not have the true Gospel...Can you be saved without the Gospel? Can a Calvinist then look to well known non-Calvinists like AW Tozer and CS Lewis as being godly ambassadors of God's truth?
Jeff warns that Arminianism (non-Calvinsim), robs God of His glory (~14:15 min). But a consistent Calvinist would say God ordained everything (including Arminianism) from the beginning of time to ultimately bring about His own glory. How would something that was created to bring Him glory actually rob Him of His glory?
Many more inconsistencies are discovered as you continue to watch and truly examine what Jeff is saying on this subject. "But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;" - 1 Thess 5:21. For the record, I respect both Jeff and Leighton and their dedication towards preaching the gospel. I have not found better training videos than Jeff's when it comes to lovingly and boldly contending with Mormons, atheists, abortionists, etc; and Leighton has an honest passion to encourage Calvinists and non-Calvinists alike to examine fully their own views of soteriology taking into account the complete biblical narrative.

I believe “TULIP” theology to be unscriptural. On the other hand, I am not an Arminian and I believe in eternal security.
Total inability means sinners are unable to come to Christ unless they are first regenerated. But the Bible teaches that a man is born again when he believes, not before he believes. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12).
Unconditional election means God arbitrarily chose some people for heaven, and others for hell. But the Bible says that God is, “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9; cf. I Tim. 2:4).
Limited atonement means Christ died only for the elect. But First John 2:2 says, “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
Hebrews 2:9 says, “that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man” (cf. also John 1:29; 3:16).
Irresistible grace means that the saving grace of God is effectually applied only to those whom God has determined to save (the elect). Here we can see the logical connection between “total inability” (or “total depravity”) and “irresistible grace.” Since total inability means that man is unable of believing God, and man will never come to Christ on his own, God must first change a person’s nature before he is saved.
To the staunch Calvinist, regeneration must precede conversion. But is God’s grace “irresistible”? We see many examples in the Bible of sinners resisting God’s grace. Stephen said to the Jewish leaders in Acts 7:51, “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.”
Calvinists would argue that these stiffnecked sinners were not part of the elect and were therefore predestined for hell. But this is not what the Bible teaches.
The last doctrine in the TULIP system is the “perseverance of the saints.” This means the elect believer will continue in the state of holiness and righteousness through the work of the Holy Spirit, and the elect believer will continue in this state all the way through till he gets to heaven.
This doctrine has been called “once saved, always saved” and has been associated with the doctrine of eternal security, though there are some differences.
I must say that while I tend to agree more with the Arminians on their opposition to the first four points, I break company with them on the fifth (cf. Romans 9:35-39).
Eternal life is for eternity. It is not “temporary eternal life.”
Before moving on, let me say we can agree with the Calvinists when they are right – the sovereignty of God, eternal security, etc.
And we can agree with the Arminians when they are right – man’s responsibility, unlimited atonement, etc. However, we should not be forced to take sides in this debate. My main issue is that the Calvinist can not go up to everyone and tell them God loves them and died for their sins. -
Hey everyone. This may be a long shot but, 2016 was an incredibly tough year for my little sister and I. I am 21 years old and she is 4. I was granted custody of her after our mother was convicted and sent to prison. I have been praying constantly that God will help support us financially. I work full time and take online classes at night. I am not sure if this is God's will, but I have been looking for ways to make some extra money so that my little sister is fed and taken care. The following is a link that will take you to a bible on amazon. If you purchase it or anything on amazon after clicking the link I will receive a small commission. Prayers are also greatly appreciated- <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1433544407/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1433544407&linkCode=as2&tag=degraw55-20&linkId=0d7bb2880acf45afd54027f3b0da8ebf"

"Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having."
- C.S. Lewis -
The two i have to put Infront of TULIP Is The Sovereignty Of YHWH And The HOLINESS Of YHWH; S.H.T.U.L.I.P one could say Attributes Of GOD First. And i do think Particular Redemption is better put. Grace, Peace, n LOVE to all the elect IN KING YESHUA†

Calvinism is cognitive dissonance repeated over and over in a vain attempt by its cultists to make it biblical.

I think Romans 9, should clear up any arminian view of salvation. Ephesians 1 also speaks specifically on predestination. That he chose us before the foundation of the world. God works all things according to his will. I hope this helps. I know it has helped me a lot. God Bless!

I have a question.
"God preordained...a part of the human race, without any merit of their own, to eternal salvation, and another part, in just punishment of their sin, to eternal damnation. " John Calvin
Does that mean that Calvinist believe that some people have no say and are going to hell no matter what they do because they aren't preordained ? -
unbelievably on point-just about the best message you will ever hear.

i am a biblicist! and election is bible 😀
