He turned away his daughter's first suitor . He goes on to say he couldn't provide for his first wife couldn't pay the light bill etc. What irony. Perhaps the first suitor would have found the right path too. Who was Rev., Hill to judge?

My brother fell asleep at the wheel and flew off the interstate and as the car flipped over and over it nestled up next to a small tree that kept it from going into the river. My brother, who miraculously survived the accident and the only thing they could salvage from the wreck was the tape of this sermon that he was listening too. I'm not sure how one can fall asleep with a message like that, but this time God just gave! He didn't take away! By the way he had labeled the tape: God Gave! TY God

Dr. Hill was richly blessed. Thanks for posting this priceless sermon. I had only heard parts of it on Dr. Dobson's Focus on the Family broadcast, years ago. It was great to hear the full service. God blessed us all with Dr. hill.

At my first church in St. Louis (St. Lukes United Church of Christ) one of the members a 90 year old mother of the church gave me the tape of this sermon. I don't know if she was telling me to preach like him or that she enjoyed it so much she just wanted to share it with me. This was the first white church I was blessed to shepherd. Than you Mrs. Erma for sharing this message some 217 years ago.

When I was young I heard my Pastor preach his father's eulogy , he could preach anyway, but my LORD there wasn't a dry eye in the church, even the funeral director shouted for joy that was maybe 45y ago.

Heard him years ago at the Zion Baptist in North Philadelphia Pa Dr Leon H Sullivan was the pastor, Dr Hill Preach that night, and Dr Sullivan rock me with just his remarks, not saying there are no preachers like them anymore , but it's few.

How I wish I could have heard him live!

This is the 2nd time that I've heard this story. Once when Dr. Hill was alive and now again after his and her passing. I loved this man of GOD! They BOTH knew GOD!

I preached at my mother's wake. I understand how difficult this was. You have the very real emotions of missing your loved one and the complete assurance of their salvation and the blessed hope of seeing them again all at the same time. I would say "God bless him" but knowing of his Graduation, God already has.
