We come into this life to learn to Love and teach Love
I read the love of my grandmother and grand father in my Tio's song he wrote after the war
When my Uncle Beto arrived home on a greyhound bus returning from WWII, my grandfather ran onto the bus and carried him of the bus, that was the Love of a father
When he arrived home, my grandmother anxiously waited with tears in her eyes, she took him straight to church and on there knees she and my Tio Beto crawled from the entrance of the church to the alter to thank God for his safe return, that was the Love of a mother
I saw the love of his children, who cared for there mother and father night and day 24 hours a day seven days a week 365 days of the year. My Tios daughter Stella came from California just to be close to her dad. They were never left alone.....that was the Love of there children.
I saw my Tio in his last days before he went to heaven with no strength left in him but just enough to breath with the help of oxygen, with a soft whisper ask my cousin Gloria that he wanted a hug. I watched as she gently lifted him and carefully slid her arm under him and gave him the most loving hug I was blessed to see....that was the Love of a daughter.
I saw the Love of my cousin Jesse Gutierrez and all his brothers and sisters who came together and provided a reception for all our family after Tio's service, the church helpers volunteered to prepare and serve the meals, some took days of from work to be there, so that our cousins could spend time with our family (thank you) that is the Love of cousins.
I saw the Love of cousin Ben who put together a very beautiful ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, with a horse drawn carriage that carried my Tio covered with the US flag, and a military ceremony with a 21 gun salute and flags for all of Tios children Stella, Gloria, Gilbert and Ofelia, my Tio Beto would be proud to have. that is the Love of a cousin
Tio arrived in Heaven greeted by an Angel his wife Angelita, his mother Natividad, his grandfather Wenceslow, his sisters Chelo, Lupe, Susa, Keta and brothers Carlos, Joe and my dad Siro. It was a reunion all back together with my grandfather gritando Ya Mi Hijito, Ya Bolbio. There is a party in heaven and they are all smiling down at us and saying job well done. They showed us how to Love and left us over 700 cousins strong and growing.
To My cousin Gloria, Gilbert, Ofelia and Stella, I Love you all , I am blessed to be part of this wonderful family.
