I want to preach. I know my bible, and I understand the doctrines. But I don't know what to do. I want to preach to people or something but I don't know how.
-
Truth is, God has called his children to lead (Luke 10:2). I truly believe that is the Holy Spirit who guides us to do His work. Preaching is something you can improve with time. Some will be able to flow in this area easier than others but to be honest, what makes a preaching good is when it is inspired by the Holy Spirit which we all have received when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

In my church pretty much all the youth will eventually preach in church some point in time . In my opinion it's a great way to see how and were you stand and see how your understanding in what you believe in by preaching. Now aiming to be a evangelist , preacher , or pastor is a whole different thing. But never hurts to put a youth to preach in some point of his time.

This is offensive and arrogant - I'd say he needs to spend a little more time with God and less time in the mirror.

A classic! #SupernaturalConference

I don't think it's right to tell people not to preach if they don't have the gift. If God wants them to preach, then they will, full-stop. It doesn't matter if they have the gift or not, everyone has to go through trial and error through experience.
-
Regardless of the gifts everyone has we are all one body as Christ, he came to finish the work that we could not do and the resurrection was the proof and evidence that God was satisfied, we meditate on that only and stay Christ-conscious and what ever gift also known as the fruit of Christ (aka) personality/traits of Christ will overflow. We are meant to rest in his love and presence. Philosopher in the days of Jesus and even today have described Jesus as uneducated, Galilean, peasant. Yet, he trumped all the famous scribes and "Pharisees". Why? because he had the trust in Abba's unconditional love and understood how God saw the world.

There should be a distinction drawn between preaching in the Biblical context, and the pulpitering that is being discussed in the video. St. Francis said where ever you go, preach, and when necessary, use words. There is a gift of "preaching" but much of the argument is really based on the version of scripture is being read. What is being said in the video is that if you have the call on your life to stand in front of a crowd and speak the good news of Jesus, do it. If not, don't. That does not, by any means, imply that we are not to witness/testify/minister the same truth to our family/friends/co-workers/fellow students. That is the part that we are all called to. That is the universal ministry each of us carries when we accept Christ to be Lord of our lives.
-
God does though command everyone to go and preach the good news, not just those who are called to it.

For those who disagree, Psalm 127:1 says:
"A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."
Which goes for anything. Secondly, to add on to that...God does not simply call the qualified, he qualifies those he calls.
Anyone whom the Lord sees fit may preach, and without His will and blessing to do so, we succeed in nothing. -
Um
-
Anyone can learn to preach.... the better question is whether you are called to pastor... you can be a great pastor and an ok preacher
-
There is a difference between teaching and preaching
-
No one is called to preach. There is no explicit part of scripture that points to this. All elders of the church are commanded t be ale to teach, but don't discourage someone from preaching if they don't think the are called.
-
talking about vocation. Spot on.
-
I'm pretty sure they're talking in the context of vocational ministry preaching.
-
Where in scripture is there found a gift to preach...scripture does say there is a gift of teaching. I am a preacher and I like Judah, but for some reason this just rubs me the wrong way...I would encourage all to preach and teach the Word of God...gift or no gift as long as the teaching is biblically sound.
