The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew Chapters 5,6,7) The largest collection and sayings of Jesus covering 20 major topics; the blessings or beatitudes, The Lord's Prayer, Adultery, The Law, and many parables. The Sermon was given on the slope of Mount Eremos on the northern side of the Sea of Galilee. It is the most widely quoted Sermon of the Gospels, and longest, containing the basic tenets of Christianity. If it were possible to summarize it, it could be said that Jesus is telling us how to live a life dedicated to God, full of love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness, free of hypocrisy, adultery, murder and evil with the wisdom of a builder who builds his house on a solid rock foundation.
