wow... I was looking for Yamaha RGX TT guitar (Ty's signature model it seems) and just stumble upon this vid... I do need to check this band out - it seems a very interesting one!
-
I love the way he buiilds up the intesity of his guitar solo!

Kings X became very popular, by being sold in Christian record stores, along with the regular retail outlets, back in the day. It's kind of hard to say let's leave it out of it, when Ty tabor, and folks paid by this band are strong believers. I agree he shares, and wears his heart on his sleeve, he is one of the most respectful, well-mannered human beings I have ever had the privilege to sit and talk with. Just a great guy! He really loved his Gramma, & her influence on him, is all about God.

Doug in the two times I sat and spoke with him, said that he believes, Jesus died for his sins, that HE rose from the dead on the third day, and that His blood cleanses him from ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. He has been lamb-basted by the church, and 'secular' labels in some cases stayed away because of the controversy. I wish the church would leave music, and musicians alone! Doug is a unique individual. His walk with Jesus, is his business. The music says all that needs said.

my favorite part was from 0:01 to 9:24

This is POWERFUL STUFF,don't know the WHOLE history behind the X,but the stuff about the REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!! DEEP GUYS AND DOLLS!!!! THUS IS STUFF OF ROCK N ROLL....ROCK ON KINGS X
-
@frankencat I agree. I respect KGX and his individual choices, but clearly the 'believers time' is the best of KGX - full of creative energy and stuff. Simple and heavenly inspiration. Just my opinion. Don't know the whole history, but maybe, just maybe, he was "COMMERCIALLY adjusted" to spread the message that KGX isn't a 'churchband' or "White Rock" :P. Bitter is the man who keep his FAITH on MEN. Anyway KGX rules.

Can we cut the talk about religion please? dUg's saying some real stuff, lets praise that. long live King's X
-
The problem is that many christian people thinks that God and religion are the same things. Lennon said that (imagine a world without religion). For Jesus there s no wall to separate, for Jesus there s no place, or buiding, or anything or anyplace to can to prevet someone to know him. We are the church.

@ChrisandClay These days dUg sincerely doesn't know whether to believe or not it seems. He's been judged in music and his personal life by Christians, so you can't blame him one bit for being bitter. He's just saying that music is like a church for him, and we're his congregation.
-
@frankencat I don't recall him saying "we" don't believe, but maybe I'm wrong. He's just referring to himself. Ty has always remained a Christian. Jerry reportedly has problems with organized religion, but has never professed to be a non-believer. dUg always stated even on the early albums that he didn't like the corruption in organized religion and denominations (the entire song "Mission" from GGTN and the "What denomination - the whole thing seems crazy to me" line from "Silent Wind" from ST).
-
Hey I love the X and all but this stuff about "we don't believe in any God is BS" and Dug knows it. Just listen to the songs and tell me I am wrong. Can I get a witness? Indeed.

I will forever be a member or the reverend dUg E. Pinnick's church of rock and roll. Preach it reverend dUg!

@SlyHobbit - Awesome! I'd love to see others that you have. Let me know when you post them. I'll subscribe to you, too. As for me, I posted everything I taped that night.
-
Cool deal man. Ive got more, just havent had the time to upload them yet. Ive got at least 6 from that night, and a few from their performance a few weeks later in birmingham that was just as good, but a REALLY small crowd.
-
@SlyHobbit - I saw those! They were great. One day if it's cool with you I might even edit our videos together somehow. The sound was definitely good there. Very glad I saw them that night!
