Good Friday is the celebration of the day Jesus died. "What is good about Jesus dying," you may ask. To understand this, we must understand WHY Jesus died. The Bible teaches, and we all know, that each one of us has sinned and no one is perfect. (Rom 3:23) And we also understand that a sinner cannot go to Heaven because allowing sin in Heaven would "dirty" Heaven. Some people feel that if they do more good works than bad works, they can cancel out their sin and thus be pure enough to go to Heaven. But, practically speaking, if we examine our own lives, we will realize that we do way more "bad" works than we do "good" works on a daily basis...so this is impossible. Other people feel that by making certain offerings they can virtually "buy" themselves a place in Heaven or absolution from their sins. Again, do you think we have enough money to buy a room in Heaven? And when we do offer offerings, generally within minutes we sin again...whether it be a curt word, an impure thought or simple irritation with another. So we cannot offer enough offerings to truly cancel out our sins. God has proclaimed that the punishment for sin is death. Jesus, pure and sinless, died in our place, taking the punishment for our sins on Himself, so we won't have to...if we believe in Him. And through this sacrifice of Jesus, we can become pure and enter into Heaven. This message goes on to discuss the different symbols of Easter and their meanings. It also include a discussion on choices. And ultimately it is our choice...so we accept Jesus and His sacrifice or not. Listen for the complete message...
