I tried the epley maneuver and the spinning went away but I still get this feeling after a month that my body is going up and down as if on a boat, anyone else experience this? Will this maneuver help? Thanks.

What about Audiologists diagnosing BPPV???
-
Audiologists are also able to do this.

I tried this after suffering from BPPV for about 2 years, following a head trauma, and it actually worked! I did it only twice but I also did the somersault maneveur before doing it (about 4 times) so I'm not sure which one actually cured it.

Great video. Can you share your opinion on number of reps per day this maneuver should be done? My doctor wants me to do this Semont maneuver for left BPPV 5 sets per day with each set being 4 reps. However, you state one rep per day only. is there a danger in doing this multiples time per day? If not, is more reps better?

the words on the screen for left side, do not correspond with the doctor saying right side???

This was scary at first, right when I start to think of vertigo as a fun experience it starts to go away on it's own. pff lame.
-
i did try it again 3 more times in the next 24 hours, and then it went back to normal. Worked great
-
Did you keep at it or not? How are you feeling now?
-
Yes, it's going to feel awful--that means the crystals are moving (which is the whole point of all this), but in a 'controlled' manner. You are striving to get the crystals back where they belong. Hold each position for AT LEAST 30 seconds after the spinning has stopped. Good luck.
-
Ahh this feels awful, I can't stand it - is there any alternative manoevres?
-
See my comment above. There were times when I was unable to complete this maneuver because I simply couldn't stand one of the positions. Even then it helped. Maybe you're doing it from the wrong side?

THANK YOU!!! This cured me over about 2 weeks. The "ear rocks" caused complete lack of sleep, w/hot flashes, "restless-body syndrome" and feeling tilted backwards even when sleeping propped up. Every morning I had dizzy spells. The Epley maneuver helped only initially. Semont started repairing my sleep immediately, even doing it initially from the wrong side. Several months later, no more dizzy spells, hot flashes or "restless-body syndrome" and my sleep is better than in decades!

What maneuver we decide is based on observations found in our evaluation. The maneuver we use is akin to a doctor prescribing a certain medication for a specific pathology. Epley is not better then semont, however epley appears more widely used.

i just tried this and now I feel worse. Does this mean it is working, or what? should i continue using this till cured, or Stop. Anyone

Try both and see which works best for you. There is no such thing as...one size fits all.
-
Thanks, this worked for me. I did both sides.
-
but our instructor says "remain upright 48 hours after treatment"?

I've sent many patients to the vestibular testing center at U of M , and they do such a fantastic job helping those patients with vestibular disorders, and getting patients with other disorders going in the right direction, too !

This is a great video and very helpful for patients and persons training in the medical field. Thanks for posting it.
