May 4, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Gallup NM, Michael Dowd (a.k.a. Rev. Reality) presented the guest sermon, which advocates an "Evidential Reformation" (which Dowd calls Religion 3.0). "Secular people typically find it infuriating that I lift up the evolutionary significance of religion and show how science not only doesn't do away with the concept of God but actually offers the only way of thinking about the divine that is undeniably, inescapably real." "Religious people find it equally maddening that I lift up the inspirational significance of science and point out how scientific, historic, and cross-cultural evidence provide a much more accurate map of reality than old holy men or even older holy books." Dowd closes his sermon with this Carl Sagan quote: "Science is, at least in part, informed worship."
