Christ is risen! So the Apostles had hidden themselves because they were afraid, and they had plenty to be afraid of! These same people were to have their lives completely transformed and within a short time several of them were dead. John lived to extreme old age but others came to sticky ends (look them up in Orthodoxwiki). You see He sent them out from their safe place... and He will send you out too!
