Reluctant Saint - Francis of Assisi
El contenido de la fe, para escuchar,
For those who know nothing about the life and ministry of Francis of Assisi, this is an excellent place to start. The documentary spans his initial encounter with Christ all the way to his death, in just under an hour. Indeed, it is a sketch with some nice insights provided by various commentators. I'm not partial to reenactments, and there are plenty here. I prefer seeing the places themselves, as well as the art of the time. As the documentary creators are only imagining what the visuals, I would prefer to be allowed to do the same; dramatizing these events without the depth that can occur in a film risks deflating the impact of the moment. This does happen here...I found myself looking away and listening to the words and enjoyed it much better. But there are beautiful countrysides, and plenty of other visuals which work quite well. In the end, this is a pleasant way to get an introduction to the work of Francis, and hopefully a desire to learn much more.

This sounds like a liberal gay version of St. Francis.

As a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, let me state that this is a pretty poor biography of St. Francis of Assisi. Actually, it's lousy. Having read contemporary accounts of the life of St. Francis, plus many of the biographies of centuries past, I wonder if Mr. Spoto wasn't going for revisionist history. There are a lot of events in the life of St. Francis, as with any saint I imagine, that do not sit well with modern society. For example, St. Francis didn't set out to make peace with the Sultan, but to convert him. The permission the Sultan gave for the Franciscans to care for the holy places was a result of his disinterest in converting. Francis, as a true knight of Christ, knew that idolatry such as Islam cannot be at peace with the True Faith of Christ. (This is true of other idolatrous religions such as: Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Sikhism, Mormonism, Protestantism and Judaism.) Also, the humanistic odor running through the whole piece reeks of the fake Church under the heretical anti-popes Mr. John XXIII, Mr. Paul IV, Mr. John-Paul, both I & II, Mr. Benedict XVI, and the newest criminal Mr. Bergoglio (especially in light of this video, I can't grace him with the name Francis.) Have no fear though. The true Church is still around. You can find it if you want to.

Thanks for this video👍

silly documentary. francis wants his own way, a way blessed by god, and not a way away from his parents a way to honor his father.

This must be the protestant/homosexual version, I can't even finish watching it. The Church didnt embrace Francis until later. This version sucks. Plus A franciscan priest named Murray? Weird. Monks usually change their name. I know some Anglicans that had a 3rd order of St Francis, perhaps they made this. I recommend Brother Sun and Sister Moon....or even Wikipedia. Pax+

To me it seems very disrespectful and rude to call a saint a sissy.

Great film. Thanks

I think he was decieved by Satan... Idoletry is not the way to God. Many do we lie under the lies of Satan. Go to the living bread of Jesus Christ whoes bread was broken and his wine poured out for the sins of the world. The true light of the world.

Why is Cuomo in this, a left wing politician who supports liberalism. Government redistribution of income is not charity. One comes from force, the other from love.
