In this week's episode I explore Matthew 15:21-28. This is the assigned reading for the 10th Sunday after Pentecost. This passage highlight's Jesus' encounter with a Canaanite Woman who begs him to heal her daughter, possessed by a demon. In a bit of a troubling exchange, Jesus first ignores her, but then engages with her at the prodding of the disciples. Jesus first seems to express contempt at her Gentile status, but through her acknowledgment of her status and her expression of belief, Jesus recognizes her faith.
