This is a lecture on the Sermon on the Mount by John W. Welch, who was substituting for Hugh Nibley for a few weeks as Nibley went to Egypt for an archaeological dig that had just uncovered a new burial tomb. Amongst other things, John Welch shows how the Sermon given by Jesus during his visit to the Nephites at the temple in Bountiful follows the patterns of the teaching portion of the Temple Endowment. For commentary on the ordinance portion of the Temple Endowment, here is the link to a short video that briefly summarizes some of Hugh Nibley's work on the Egyptian Endowment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ab-hUFq2d70
Yes, and my presence
shall be there (in the temple), for I (probably Jehovah) will come into it (the
temple), and all the pure in heart that shall come into it (the
temple) shall SEE GOD.
Also,
Joseph Smith Translation, Matthew 5:10.
And blessed are all the pure in heart; for they
shall SEE GOD.
When was the last time you heard any of the current leaders
of the LDS church admit or confess that they have indeed seen our savior? Sure they
have “testified” the fact that he lives and they say they “know he lives” and
yet I’ve have never found anywhere in all of my research them every saying they
have actually seen him. Not that the savior is not a resurrect being, I’m just
saying how hard is it to say, “I know my savior lives BECAUSE I have seen him!”
me personally I haven’t seen the savior ether and that’s my fault, do to being unworthy.
But at least I can admit that I have not seen the savior yet. Also and I don’t pretend
to have seen the savior like some religious people do after all “honesty is the
best policy.” And “woe unto the liars for they shall be thrust down to hell”.
And If the “pure in heart” “shall see God” then maybe the
leaders of the LDS Church are not “pure in heart” after all if a worthy
individual is “pure in heart” and “shall come into it (the temple)” shouldn’t that
worthy individual therefore, “See God?”
and yet…
Psalms 24:4.
“He that has clean hands (Has not shaded innocent blood),
and a pure (morally clean) heart (inner man, mind, understanding); who has not
lifted up his soul (Himself) unto vanity (emptiness of speech, lying, falsehood),
nor sworn deceitfully (dishonestly).”
So if a person has “clean hands” and “a pure heart who has not
lifted up his soul i.e. Himself unto vanity (emptiness of speech, lying, falsehood)” So if an individual is dishonest then that
would disqualify them from being “pure in heart” THEREFORE those individual’s would
not be allowed to see God.
So why haven’t the current LDS leaders confess they have
seen God? Are they guilty of some of these sins? After all they just “testified”
and they say they “know he lives” but if I was to “testified” or say I “know he
lives,” Would that prove I’m supposedly pure in heart? Nope. And I’m not pure
in heart or at least not yet anyways. And I have no doubt in my mind that the savior
is in fact a resurrected being and Father Heaven is as real as you and me. But that
doesn’t prove that I’ve seen him…
Also hatred is not here so we can hate evil. Hate is the opposite
of love and without opposition we would not know why wrong is wrong and why
right is right. Lehi said there needs to be opposition in ALL things so we can
know the bitter from the sweet.
“when you laugh at a brother or a sister in whom resides the
spirit of God, you are ridiculing God himself” 17:29
I doubt a true Christian would ridicule a brother or sister
who is under the influence of the Holy Ghost.
Also Moses 8:17
And the Lord said unto Noah: My Spirit shall not always
strive with man…
So brothers and sisters in Christ will not always have “the
spirit” with them.
“Another thing about the sermon on the mount talks about
tearing out your eye or cutting off your hand bodily mutilation was not mete certainly
by Jesus to be literal.” 23:26
Jehovah was talking about the company we keep and following
leaders…
NOTE: Thee, thou, thy and thine are Singular. And ye, you, and
your is Plural.
JST Mark 9:40-48
Therefore, if thy hand offends thee, cut it off; or if thy
brother offend thee and confess not and forsake not, he shall be cut off. It is
better for thee to enter into (or go through) life maimed, than having two
hands, to go into hell. For it is better for thee to enter into life without
thy brother, than for thee and thy brother to be cast into hell; into the fire
that never shall be quenched, where their worm dies not, and the fire is not
quenched.
“Bad company ruins good character” -unknown
And again, if thy foot offends thee, cut it off; for he that
is thy standard (probably a religious leader), by whom thou walk (follow), if
he becomes a transgressor, he shall be cut off. It is better for thee, to enter
halt (without that false leader, who is a poor example) into life, than having
two feet to be cast into hell; into the fire that never shall be quenched.
“The blind leads the blind into a ditch” –Jesus Christ
Therefore (For that reason as previously mentioned earlier),
let every man stand or fall, by himself, and not for another; or not trusting
another. (Because “cursed is he who puts his trust in the arm of flesh”.)
Seek unto my Father, and it shall be done in that very
moment what ye (you all) shall ask, if ye (you all) ask in faith, believing
that ye (you all) shall receive.
And if thine eye which sees for thee, (i.e.) him that is
appointed to watch (sees) over thee (probably a religious leader) to show thee
light (Truth, Intelligence), become a transgressor and offend thee, pluck him
out. (Get him or her out of your life.)
It is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God, with
one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
For it is better that thyself should be saved, than to be
cast into hell with thy brother, where their worm dies not, and where the fire
is not quenched.
This info that Joseph smith Jr restored was probably removed
by the corrupt Catholic church because they didn’t wanted their members to stop
following their religious leaders. If those members started to have any doubts
about those men leading them this passage could give them the approval they
might need to justly leave the fold. (and hopefully not get killed) L
Also Galatians 1:8
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other
gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
I have nothing against brother John W. Welch, And he’s probably
a better Christian then I am… Maybe he should of did a little more homework?
