Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 5:17-20
El contenido de la fe, para escuchar,
Matthew 5:17-20 are some of the most problematic passages for interpretation in all of Scripture. This video message tackles five difficult questions raised by Jesus' teaching about the Law. 1. Is it true that Jesus did not abolish the Mosaic Law in any sense (Matthew 5:17)? 2. What does Jesus mean by saying He came to fulfill the Law (Matthew 5:17)? 3. What does Jesus mean by saying that nothing in the Law will disappear until everything is accomplished (Matthew 5:18)? 4. Is Jesus expecting His followers to remain under the Law of Moses, to practice and teach every single one of its commands (Matthew 5:19)? 5. Does righteousness mean that we have to obey the Mosaic Law better than the Scribes and Pharisees if we want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 5:20)? Watch the video to hear answers to these questions and more.

Matthew 24 34 this generation shall not pass until these things be fulfilled Matt 10 23 But when they persecute you (his disciples in their time) in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you (his disciples), ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the son of man come. Matt 16 28 Verily I say unto you, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the son of man coming in his kingdom Romans 13 11-12 And that knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for NOW is our salvation NEARER than we believed. The night is far spent, the DAY IS AT HAND: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 1 Corinthians 7 29 But this I say brethren, THE TIME IS SHORT: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; Philippians 4 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is AT HAND. Hebrews 10 25 Not forsaken the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much more, as ye see the DAY APPROACHING. James 5 8-9 Be ye also patient stablish your hearts: for the COMING OF THE LORD DRAWETH NIGH. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the JUDGE STANDETH BEFORE THE DOOR. 1 Peter 4 7 But the END of all things is AT HAND. be ye sober, watch unto prayer. 1 John 2 18 Little children, IT IS THE LAST TIME: and as ye have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby WE KNOW IT IS THE LAST TIME. I could go on with Revelation but why bother. It's pretty clear everyone of the apostles have said at one point that the second coming was near in their time and if they were just "mistaken" as some conclude than what about Jesus himself who said that anybody that comes in his name that says it DRAWETH NIGH like in Luke 21 8 than do not go or listen to them for they are false prophets? Either it did occur within their generation or the scriptures are very flawed and possibly fraudulent.

I can't believe these comments aren't flooded with thank you's. I've been searching and praying for someone to give me an explanation of this passage without just pointing to seemingly contradictory verses without giving further explanation. What an incredible job of really explaining this passage of scripture. Please know that God is working through this preacher. Well done.

Jeremiah 31: 31 and onward says that with the new covenant, He would write His law in their hearts and minds. He was speaking of the 10 commandments on stone that would be written in their inward parts. These are the 10 commandments of God. Jesus magnified, or better put, interpreted these laws. Jesus also said that if we claim to accept Him but keep not the Father's commandments, we are a LIAR. This has nothing to do with the Mosaic laws of Israel. Only the law of God. Jesus made it clear that that if we do not love God with all our might and love our neighbor as our self, we are NOT in Him and are not a part of His Kingdom. Whether we consider the dietary laws or other laws of the land of Israel, are we not to keep the 10 commandments ? These are the laws that Christ magnified. Do you love your neighbor as yourself ? Do you place God over every desire of your heart ? If so, you keep His commandments. If not, you have not kept them. Is this not the foundation of the Spirit of God ? And are you truly in Christ ? Think about this !

If I am to live by every word of the mouth of YHUH as Yeshua says, than I am to treat this ministry and those like it, as false prophets per Deuteronomy 13.

I was wondering; what kind of interpretational acrobatics can possibly be exercised in an attempt to change the very literal meaning of Matthew 5:17-20. Are all your limbs still intact? This is is the interpretational equivalent of slowly bending your back 180° backwards and sticking your head up your own ass. I haven't seen this much straw-grasping since I saw someone make a scarecrow.

The OT law has been abolished in all but its prophetic sense. It was abolished by Christ (in His teaching and work), by the Jerusalem Council (in Acts 15), and by Israel themselves (as described in Hebrews 8).
