1526: Tyndale published the New Testament.
1530: Tyndale published the Torah.
1531: Tyndale published Jonah.
1534: He revised the New Testament and Genesis.
1536: He revised the New Testament. He was subsequently executed.
1537: The Matthew Bible was published by John Rodgers under the pseudonym Thomas Matthew, it consists of the Old & New Testament with the Apocrypha. Mostly the work of Tyndale and Coverdale. The 1st Bible in the English language.
1539: The Great Bible, chained to the pulpit. Authorized by King Henry VIII. This was a revision of the Matthew Bible. It contains three Old & New Testaments with the Apocrypha. The 2nd Bible in the English language.
1560: The Geneva Bible, the first translation of the Bible to be in the hands of the common man. Old & New Testaments with the Apocrypha and a commentary. The 3rd English language Bible.
1868: The Bishop's Bible, a translation of the Vulgate. Old & New Testaments with the Apocrypha. 2nd Authorized version.
1611: The King James Bible, the 3rd Authorized Bible. Old & New Testaments with the Apocrypha. Purpose, King James believed the Geneva Bible undermined the authority of the Crown.
1769: KJV revised to a standardized text.
1826: The Apocrypha was removed from the KJV. -
