This morning we continue to celebrate Jesus’ Easter victory, and in today’s Scripture passages we see two of Jesus’ resurrection appearances to his disciples. Thomas will not believe until he has seen physical evidence of the miracle, but Jesus commends those who believe in him without first seeing. Later on in the story, in the book of Acts, we see the apostles filled with the courage and fire of the Holy Spirit. They cannot keep silent about the resurrected Lord Jesus. This morning we too will encounter the risen Jesus through the sacraments of Baptism and Communion, which are outpourings of his love and grace that invite us to deeper faith in him.
